We’ve asked members of the Fashion in Leeds network to tell us more about who they are. This week, we spoke to Marie Stenton, MA Student at Sheffield Hallam University.
Who are you, and what do you do?
My name is Marie Stenton and I am currently an MA student at Sheffield Hallam University studying Fashion Design. I originally joined Fashion in Leeds as a designer with my own printed accessories label, inspired by microscopic photography, but my struggle to find truly sustainable materials and processes led me down a new path.
Who, or what, inspires you?
Anything dead or alive. I have always been inspired by biology, particulaly anatomy.
Favourite shops or brands?
Vintage and Charity shops
Who would you love to collaborate with?
Suzanne Lee. Lee pioneered the biomaterials revolution and is now working with labs in New York and designers such as Stella McCartney to create new, sustainable materials for fashion.
